Working Title: Instructional Assistant Professor

Job Description: The Department of Health Promotion and Community Health Sciences, School of Public Health, Texas A&M University, invites applications for 2 full-time positions at the rank of Instructional Assistant Professor, both with responsibilities for teaching undergraduate and MPH courses onsite and/or online. One position to include, but not limited to, undergraduate teaching in biostatistics, epidemiology, and methodology, and in any additional area of public health; the other including any area of social and behavioral health sciences. In addition, the instructional assistant professors will participate in scholarly activities, academic/community service, and department meetings.

Our program serves not only the students, but also the larger community, as all are integral to our teaching and service missions. Thus, the ideal candidates will have considerable experience working in border communities (or similar) using a community-based participatory approach. Our setting also means a considerable proportion of our students are first generation college students, and our program is a member of the Hispanic-Serving Health Professions Schools organization. We seek candidates who understand the needs of our student population and are prepared to invest in their development and training. We are also housed outside of the College Station campus, and share space with other health profession training programs in McAllen. The ideal candidates will be comfortable with a setting in which interprofessional educational opportunities abound.

Salary: Commensurate with experience.

Required Qualifications: Doctoral degree in a discipline relevant to public health from an accredited institution, or MPH with significant teaching experience at the college level. Demonstrated record of teaching and service in public health and considerable experience working in border communities using a community-based participatory approach. Must possess highly effective interpersonal skills and the ability to work well with interdisciplinary teams. Must offer evidence of accomplishment in teaching.

Preferred Qualifications: Professional experience in an academic health science program and experience in the scholarship of public health practice. For candidates with an MPH, significant teaching experience is required, with 5 years of teaching preferred.
