    Junior Specialist

    General responsibilities include: The position of Junior Specialist has a narrow focus in a specialized area and provides technical or specialized expertise (e.g., with instrumentation and research equipment, or with research methods) in the planning and execution of a research project. For this position, the Junior Specialist will be responsible for learning and using PK/PD modeling software to analyze results from the burn ICU fentanyl study, and will also learn point of care testing techniques for instruments measuring different analytes (i.e. glucose, lactate, and troponin). Consent of human subjects for clinical research will be tasked to the Junior Specialist, which requires excellent communication and comfort in potentially stressful situations. In addition, the Junior Specialist will be required to review journal articles involving the PK/PD of fentanyl and factors that can influence metabolism, such as injury and genetic polymorphisms, and will be expected to stay up to date on current literature from any additional projects they are participating in. The position will involve engaging in discussions with the PI on the research and the interpretation of research results. This open line of communication will be essential for the PK/PD study, as it will be the primary project for the Junior Specialist. If the opportunity arises it is also expected that the Junior Specialist will attend professional meetings to present results as a poster or oral presentation. Mentorship is an important part of the Junior Specialist position and will involve orientating undergraduates, interns, and volunteers to the lab, providing advice on study design, assisting with data collection/analysis, and reviewing presentations. This position will also involve review and editing of research proposals, grants, journal manuscripts, and abstracts prepared by the PI other member of the lab on varying topics.

    The Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences at the University of California, Davis invites applications for a qualified Junior Specialists focusing on tDCS-induced changes in the frontal-limbic network during cognitive control of emotion in recent-onset schizophrenia under the supervision of Dr. Laura Tully, Ph.D.


    RECRUITMENT DESCRIPTION
    The incumbent for this position will be part of an interdisciplinary set of studies examining the neural mechanisms underlying cognitive control of emotion and response to social stress in healthy individuals and individuals experiencing psychotic illness. The incumbent’s primary role will be the study coordinator for a new study using fMRI to examine the effects of transcranial direct current stimulation (tDCS) on neural mechanisms of cognitive control of emotion during negative social evaluation in individuals aged 16 – 30 with psychotic illness. Successful candidates will also assist with additional neuroimaging and behavioral studies, and will be involved in all aspects of publishable research activities in the PEP lab, inclusive of literature review, study design and implementation, data analysis and presentation, manuscript preparation, and conference submissions.

    The Department of Neurology, at the University of California, Davis, School of Medicine, is seeking a cerebrovascular neurologist for a full time faculty position. The position is available in either the Health Sciences Clinical Professor or Clinical X series at the Assistant, Associate or Full Professor level.


    UC Davis Medical Center is an advanced primary stroke center primed to become a comprehensive stroke center within the next year. There exists a neurology residency program, neurocritical care ICU, 24 hours/7 day coverage for neuro-endovascular procedures, neurovascular neurosurgery, RN stroke coordinator, and a well-established telestroke/ teleneurology network.


    As a Level 1 Trauma Center UCDHS has the largest catchment area of the academic medical centers in California.     The Department of Pediatrics, University of California, Davis and the UC Davis Children’s Hospital is seeking two full-time academic neonatologists. The UC Davis Children’s Hospital has a Level IV 49- bed Neonatal Unit with an ACGME accredited fellowship program in Neonatal/Perinatal Medicine.The Children’s Hospital provides a full complement of pediatric sub-specialty care including pediatric and cardiovascular surgery, as well as ECMO. Also the UC Davis Clinical and Translational Science Center (CTSC) is a major biomedical research facility with general and NIH funded programs.


    The positions are open at the Assistant/Associate/Full Professor rank (commensurate with credentials) in the Clinical Pediatrics or Health Sciences Clinical Professor series. Basic qualifications include a M.D. or D.O., Fellowship in Neonatology, board certification/eligibility in Pediatrics and Neonatal/Perinatal Medicine, and eligibility for a California Medical License.     The Department of Pediatrics at the University of California, Davis School of Medicine is recruiting an academic pediatric infectious diseases faculty member. This appointment may be made between 80% and 100% (full time).
